Knowing God (Pt III): Special Revelation
Though we can know through the creation and the inner voice that God exists, there is a limitation. We can know there is a God, but we cannot know what kind of God He is.

We are limited and God is unlimited. So revealing God through creation and inner voice is indirect revelation, and it is very partial. We cannot fully know about God, about the world of the love of God, unless He reveals Himself.
We wonder how we can know God fully?
God said to Moses, "I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I am has sent me to you.'"
God is not someone who can be contained in the theme that humans make. The creation cannot contain the amazing Word of the Creator in its full extent.
God is in Heaven and Man in on earth. Man is limited in understanding. How can we know God? How can we know what kind of God we are serving? We can know God only when God chooses to reveal Himself. That is revelation. Without revelation, we cannot know God.
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
So it is written, anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. So ultimately the way to know God is to know Jesus Christ. The Bible is testifying that Jesus is someone who was sent by God. He was the One who had the Word of God. The Word became flesh. We study the Word of God. We study the Bible, because we want to study the written revelation of Bible. Because when we know Jesus, we can know God.
1 Cor 1:19-25
For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
We can know God in Jesus Christ. There is no other way to God apart from becoming one with Christ. We can be united with Christ, only when we know Him. God's true revelation is Jesus Christ. He is testified through the Word of God.
Now, we don't need to be confused about the knowledge of God. All the doors are opened up. God has already revealed Himself. God gave the longing for God in our spirit. Everything is testifying that there is a Creator. Besides all these things, God sent His Son. Still people are saying if we see God, then we will believe in God.
At the last judgement, people's mouth will become silent. Suddenly, we will realize that we have no excuse. God has already revealed everything. That was wilful rejection. Because everything is there and crying out God loves us. People wilfully close their eyes, their hearts, and rejected God.
After the fall, people always complain and believe that they have right to complain but don't reflect on their sins. They want to fight for their rights, but don't think about their sins. Because of the wrong condition of their hearts, they think God should kneel before them and reveal Himself, that God should change their stubborn heart, even though God gave His Son, who gave His life for us.
People are really confused and don't think about God's sacrificing, and do not realize that God is always doing his very best in every situation. No matter how much they see, they cannot see, and their hearts are completely closed. It is not the fault of God. We should cultivate our hearts, and make our hearts like good soil.
We cannot make excuse, "God is not showing Himself to me." God has already shown Himself through Jesus Christ. God has already shown His love.
Cross was self-lowering and emptying. That is the image of God. Because we have seen Jesus, we know God. Because God sent His only Son, God gave up His life. When we look at the life of Jesus Christ, we can say, "Oh this is the image of God. God is this person."
1 Cor 13:12
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
The essence of a person is His love. When we know love of God, then we know God. We can know his knowledge and his power, and still be far from Him. But when we know the love of God, we come to know God, and it was revealed through Jesus Christ. This is like noble knowledge. It is more noble than any knowledge in the world.
